Hammer head piers are similar to drop cap piers, but have just one (massive) column

| Setting | Description |

| Top Elevation | Elevation measured at cap top surface. |
| Cap Width (w) | Defines the width of the pier cap, for the lower limit as minimum of plate width minus 2 meters and or the upper limit as maximum of plate width plus 6 meters. |
| Cap Depth (d) | Defines the thickness of the pier cap. |
| Cap haunch depth (hd) | Defines the haunch depth. |
| Cap Side Width (sw) | Defines lateral width of the pier cap, up to 2 meters. |
